How does a Central Vacuum System work?
-
The Power Unit is connected by vacuum tubing to handy strategically located inlet valves. The power unit is automatically turned on when the hose end is inserted into an inlet valve. Not only is the dirt and dust collected outside the living area so is the noise.
-
Where is the Power Unit located?
-
The power unit is located in the garage, basement or exterior closet. Any weather protected, ventilated, exterior location outside the living area is recommended. However, at times the power unit can be installed into an interior utility closet, laundry room or under the stair case.
-
What is a Power Unit?
-
The power unit consists of three components. The dirt collector ( filter bag or container ), filtration media components and motor(s) and electrical controls.
- Can a central vacuum system be installed into a pre-existing home?
-
Yes! Just about any home can have a central vacuum system retrofitted. Any design or style home-ranch, split-level, two story, hill side, split foyer or other, new or old style can have a central vacuum system installed or install it yourself too, using easy to follow instructions and free planning assistance from Heritage Central Vacuum.
-
How long does it take to install a central vacuum system?
-
An average home of 1800 square feet requiring three inlet valve locations would take about 4-5 hours for standard inlet valves and another 30 to 90 minutes for combination inlet valves.
-
What are combination inlet valves?
-
These inlet valves have both the standard low voltage wire connected and optional household current wire. This provides the electric power brush with electricity to operate. If you are going to use a standard hose or low voltage style hose which give you the ability to turn the power unit on and off from the handy handle switch, then the standard inlet valve would be your choice.
